The Madhya Pradesh state government has launched the 'CM Rise Schools' (Revitalizing Infrastructure and Systems in Education) initiative to improve the quality of education in the state. This initiative aims to provide holistic and advanced educational facilities, focusing on a student-centered approach in government schools.Children are born curious. From their earliest day, sensory exploration brings delight and wonder. New discoveries expand their minds. As they experience a variety of activity-based learning tools on a regular basis during formative years (middle school) out of their curiosity they are transformed.

Activity Undertaken

Kid Scoop News, award winning English monthly newspaper from USA was provided to primary and middle classes (200 to 300 copies) in 6 CM Rise Schools of Bhopal during August, September and October. Students were drawn to the activities in the colourful pages and were able to handle most of the pages independently.

Purpose of The Innovative Activity

  • To stimulate Cognitive Development.
  • Brain Stimulation.
  • Reduction of Digital Exposure.
  • Improve Reading Writing & Thinking skills.
  • Enhance knowledge and Vocabulary.
  • Awaken the Magic of Reading at School & at Home.

Result (Based On Teachers Feedback)

To take a trivial example, which undertakes laborious physical exercise.
  • They were able to read & comprehend short English sentences.
  • They responded orally in English.
  • They were able to correctly link Words with images.
  • All learning outcomes were achieved through this unique Newspaper.
Newspaper in Education (NIE) is a programme designed to help children grow with a customised newspaper of their own. Such NiE programmes exist in more than 80 countries according to research by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA)

Beneficial for Middle School Students during Formative Years as it has shown:

Education Edge aims to inculcate reading habits, curiosity, scientific temper, consciousness towards the environment and many more good habits among children. It is future targeted where the content is designed with future relevance in mind, ensuring that each news article provides beneficial insights. Age Appropriate Content and topics are tailored to be suitable for the target age group, ensuring it is both educational and engaging.
